Click to DonatePhilly Children's Theatre (PCT) expands access to the arts by creating original theatre for young audiences productions. PCT then tours these shows to over 20 community partners. These community partners include places like the Please Touch Museum, The Autism Center of Philadelphia, the HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy, the Free Library of Philadelphia, the Wyck Historical House, and more. PCT partners with community centers, homeless shelters, gathering spots, historical spots, and more. Wherever there are children is where we want to be. PCT offers open performances to the public at a pay-what-you-can rate so that cost is never a barrier.
PCT also creates specific sensory theater geared for children with disabilities. These original shows create an environment where every child is invited to experience theatre. PCT creates a no-shush zone, invites the children to get up and move around as needed, and gives our sensory boxes. These sensory boxes help to tell the story of the show and the audience uses it alongside the story.
PCT creates Theatre for the Very Young shows- geared for ages 1-6. These shows are movement shows. They also run shorter. This type of theatre is the perfect way to introduce young children to the theatre in a safe and caring way!
Lastly, PCT has started to expand to educational programming starting with an education program at Jane Addams Place- a family homeless shelter. Philly Children's Theatre will be providing weekly after-school theatre/dance programming.
As a small but mighty theatre theatre company, we rely on donors and grants to keep us afloat. We love creating work for young audiences and families and creating an environment where everyone is welcome and we want to keep doing this! When you donate to PCT, you know that your donation is going a LONG way because we are so small. Even the littlest amount makes a huge difference in our company.
